Wilson x Chinook Seedery “Fake” Cans
The Opportunity
When Wilson Sporting Goods reached out to us, it wasn’t a typical product request. Michael Piotrowski, a product line manager for Wilson, called with an idea that was very much out of the ordinary. They were launching a cobranded campaign with Chinook Seedery and wanted to create a custom “fake” soda can. Not a drink, but a spit can. Something functional and fun that kids can use in the dugout while snacking on sunflower seeds.
The Challenge
The can needed to reflect Chinook’s clean, premium aesthetic, while also tying into Wilson's sport forward identity. The concept called for a removable top, soda can design, and high quality print design that can bring Chinook’s bold graphics to life. While keeping all these in mind it also had to be lightweight, portable, sturdy, and done on time for their campaign.
The Solution
Our design and production teams got to work, turning a simple sketch into a working prototype in record timing. We experimented with multiple different finishes and print techniques to ensure that Chinook’s distinctive graphics came through cleanly and looked professional.
Kim and Mike were in close contact with Mike Piotrowski to ensure all products were delivered before launch and no detail was compromised.
Conclusion
Wilson and Chinook were thrilled with the results, and so were we. This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful design, tight collaboration, and quick turn execution can transform a fun idea into a branded item that brings real value. It is the kind of piece that doesn’t just sit on the sidelines, it becomes part of the dugout experience.
